Inconvenient/inconvenant

从圣诞节到新年，童鞋们会参加很多聚餐和派对吧？如果你是爱张罗的人，你也会出面组织这些活动吧？
“活动组织者”常会问人家：“你方便吗？”
学英语的童鞋都知道“convenient”（方便）这个词吧？这个英语形容词常译为法语的动词“convenir”。

Would you please let me know if the afternoon of Saturday, 27 December is convenient for you?

Est-ce que vous pouvez me dire si l’apres-midi du samedi 27 décembre vous convient ?

请告诉我12月27日（星期六）下午对你是否方便。
 

That date is not at all convenient for me / does not suit me at all.

Cette date ne me convient pas du tout.

这个日子对我不合适。


英语的“convenient”的反义词是“inconvenient”，意思是“不方便，时间不合适”。译为法语时常用“inopportun”等词。


They arrived at a very inconvenient time. I was just having a bath.

Ils sont arrivés à un moment particulièrement mal choisi / inopportun. J’étais juste en train de prendre un bain.

他们来得真不是时候——我正在洗澡。

Could you wait until next week, if it’s not too inconvenient for you?

Pouvez-vous attendre jusqu’à la semaine prochaine, s’il ne vous dérange pas trop ?

你能等到下星期吗？没什么不方便吧？

“Inconvenient”（不方便）并不局限于时间，其他事物也可以给我们带来“不方便”。


It is most inconvenient to have to go through the sitting-room every time you want to get to the kitchen.

C’est très gênant / ce n’est pas pratique du tout de devoir passer par le salon chaque fois qu’on veut aller à la cuisine.

每次去厨房都得经过起居室，太不方便了。 与英语的“inconvenient”对应的法语形容词是“inconvenant”，但要注意了：这是一对“假朋友”！ 法语形容词 “inconvenant”的意思是“不适宜，不礼貌，不得体”（improper, inappropriate, impolite）。参加聚会，出席宴会时，可要注意啦：千万不要做出“inconvenant”的事来哦！ 比如说：

Il est inconvenant de rester assis quand une dame entre dans la pièce.

It is improper to remain seated when a lady enters the room.

女士进入房间时，男士如果还坐着不动，那是很不礼貌的。（没有绅士风度吧？^v^）

Il serait inconvenant d’arriver en retard à ce type de manifestation.(=impoli)

It would be impolite / discourteous to arrive late for such an occasion.

出席这种场合，如果迟到是不礼貌的。

Il tenait des propos inconvenants, susceptibles de choquant de jeunes oreilles.(=indécent)

He used indecent / improper language likely to shock young ears.

他说的话很不得体，尤其是对小孩子来说太少儿不宜了！（酒喝多了会失态吧？^v^）

注意：法语“inconvenant”的反义词可不是“convenant”——因为法语里根本就没有“convenant”这个形容词！
好奇怪呀！没有“convenant”，怎么会有“inconvenant”呢？就象没有“connu”就不会有“inconnu”，没有“certain”就不会有“incertain”， 没有“valid”就不会有“invalid”……哪个童鞋知道这里边的原因，务必告诉我哦！

如果非要表达与“inconvenant”的相反的意思（“适宜，合适”），也很简单：可以用动词“convenir”： 例如：


Cette robe ne convient pas pour un mariage.

That dress is not suitable for a wedding.

这件连衣裙不适合穿去参加婚礼。
