Full /Plein

英语的“full”和法语的“plein”看上去一点也不象，但它们确确实实也是一对“同源词”！英语的“full”既不是借自法语，也不是来自拉丁语, 而是源自古日耳曼语词根“*fullaz”，意为“满，充满”。 同源词在意义上往往是相通的，所以，英语的“full”在很多情况下都可以译为法语的“plein”。
Exemple:
1.There’s a full moon tonight.
C’est la pleine lune ce soir /la lune sera pleine ce soir.
今晚是满月。
2.The cherry trees are in full bloom.
Les cerisiers sont en pleine floraison.
樱花正盛开。
3.This box is full. Can you get me another?
Cette boîte est pleine (remplie). Tu peux m'en faire passer une autre?
这个箱子满了。再拿一个过来吧。
4.The glass is half full.
Le verre est à moitié plein.
杯子是半满的。
但有时英语的“full”就不能译为法语的“plein”。
Exemple:
1.She waited a full week before saying no.
Elle attendit une semaine complète (entière) avant de dire non.
她足足拖了一个星期才拒绝。
2.She had full, thick hair.
Elle avait une chevelure abondante et épaisse.
她一头浓密的头发。
3.I have two full sisters and two half-brothers.
J'ai deux sœurs germaines et deuxdemi-frères.
我有两个同胞姐妹和两个同父异母（同母异父）的兄弟。
童鞋们知道“饱了”，在法语里，能说“Je suis plein”吗？如果你是男生，当你说“Je suis plein”，会让主人感到困惑，但如果你是个女生，当你说“Je suis pleine”时，你会招致讶异的目光。原来，“je suis pleine”意为：“我怀孕了”！
但事情还更糟糕：仅仅是当众宣布你“怀孕了”，也只是冒失和欠考虑。但事实上，“plein”在作“怀孕”解时，仅用于动物！（我怀了小崽儿了！）

2.Can you manage another slice of cake? ——No thank, I have had enough.
Tu veux une autre part de gateau? ——Non merci, j'en ai assez /j'ai trop mangé.

3.I was full and didn't have room for dessert.
J'étais rassasié et n'avais plus de place pour le dessert.
我吃饱了，再也吃不下甜食了。
